Huawei P10, Watch 2 Confirmed for Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 [Video]

Huawei P10 and Huawei Watch 2 launching at MWC 2017 (Mobile World Congress)

Huawei is one of several companies that are unveiling their plans early for the Mobile World Congress 2017 to be held in Barcelona, Spain, later this month. The Chinese smartphone and electronics hardware giant has confirmed that it will be launching the Huawei P10 and Huawei Watch 2 at the event, per a social post on Weibo by Huawei CEO Richard Yu.

The Watch 2 certainly comes as a surprise considering how the first edition smart watch performed (or didn’t) from a sales perspective. However, with Android Wear 2.0 nearly out, there’s been a renewed interest in smart wrist wearables over the past few weeks.

What’s really interesting is that the promos for these two products could actually be revealing a lot more than what they actually say.

In the case of the Huawei P10, the promo shows a pair of circles with eyes in them. The Huawei 9’s rear dual camera was showcased the same way (without the eyes), but the tagline was different.

The older “Change the way you see the world” has now given way to “Change the way the world sees you,” indicating that the Huawei P10 could come with a dual selfie camera in front.

For the Huawei Watch 2, the promo carries a tagline of “Made for Free Spirits,” which means we could be looking at an LTE-capable smart watch this year from the Chinese device manufacturer.

As for the specs on the P10, we could see two models coming, but even the base model is likely to come with QHD display technology. There’s also a chance that we might see 6GB RAM alongside the Kirin 960 processor, but we’ll have to wait for the press event on February 26 to get a look at what they’ve finally decided on in terms of hardware capability and additional features.
