An Apple Watch Knock-off for $27,000? It’s the Swiss Alp Watch Zzzz

Apple Watch knock-off from H. Moser

If there was ever a lawsuit waiting to happen, it’s the Swiss Alp Watch Zzzz from Swiss watchmaker H. Moser, which looks unmistakably like Apple Watch. But it’s not a smart watch, and what you’re seeing below is not a digital display. It’s an actual black watch face with regular physical hour and minute hands.

Unlike most knock-offs, the Swiss Alp Watch Zzzz has been launched with a whopping price tag of $27,000. If you’re going to play a practical joke on your friends using this Apple Watch lookalike, it’s going to be one hell of an expensive one.

But wait, there’s more. The company is actually making two variants, one with the black dial, and another one, shown below:

H. Moser, exclusive watchmaker of some of the finest watches from Switzerland, is apparently engaging with Apple in a serious way. This is what their press release says:

“At the heart of the Swiss Alp Watch Zzzz, the HMC 324 form movement beats with the rhythm of the balance wheel’s rotations. In response to the cold electronics of connected watches, H. Moser & Cie. presents the soul of mechanical watchmaking. With a minimum power reserve of 4 days, fully rechargeable by hand, it couldn’t be further from the world of the smartwatch.”

It looks like they’re taking a potshot at all smart watches, and using Apple Watch as the chief representative of that technology. No doubt, smart watches threaten the traditional timekeeping industry in many ways, and this could be H. Moser’s response to that threat.

If you want one, though, you’re going to have to hurry, because they’re only making 20 of each variant. They’re limited edition. But even with that extremely modest manufacturing run, total sales of the Swiss Alp Zzzz could fetch them a cool $1,080,000.

Not bad for 40 watches.
