If you’re already on the Windows 10 Upgrade, here’s how you can make money by promoting products, software or subscription services offered by Microsoft. The Microsoft Affiliate Program is essentially a commission-based initiative that now also includes people who have taken the Windows 10 upgrade.
How Does it Work?
Most people have heard of the Amazon Affiliate Program. This is essentially the same thing. All you need to do is put up an affiliate link on your website, your email signature, your social media accounts and anywhere else you want. When people click through that link and purchase something from Microsoft, you get a percentage of that as a commission, or a bounty, as Microsoft calls it.
You can create affiliate links to just about anything offered at the Microsoft Store or Windows Store, and Microsoft claims that it offers some of the longest referral periods in the industry.
In their blog, Microsoft has posted some rave reviews from people who are making money from the Affiliate Program on a regular basis. Here’s an example:
“Martin Geuss is also known in Germany as Dr. Windows. He has built a large Microsoft community in Germany, spanning apps, sites, and social media presence. He replaced content URLs with Affiliate URLs in his Dr. Windows app and web site. Geuss told us that “the best thing is that I’m doing what I always did, but now with the chance to monetize it. There is nothing to lose, only to win.””
But you don’t have to be like Dr. Windows to make a few hundred bucks – or even thousands – every month. Just get on the program, build links for various products and get started promoting these links.
Affiliate programs are generally not easy to get into and master. One of the reasons for this is that it’s basically a niche market. But with a brand like Microsoft at your back, the promotion and monetization is typically much easier. It will take a little time for you to turn this into a lucrative business, but over time it is possible that it will gain traction and give you some decent passive income for the long run.
Microsoft offers this to website owners such as bloggers, news site owners and so on, but practically anyone can get on the program and start promoting stuff. As we mentioned, social media and email signatures are a good way to start if you don’t have other mass traffic channels.
Can I Still Get a Free Windows 10 Upgrade Now?
And the answer to that is a resounding YES. Microsoft has left several loopholes to upgrade to Windows 10 after the publicized end date for the free upgrades.
For example, you can use the “assistive technologies” route to get the free Windows 10 upgrade. All you need to do is go to this address below, which is on Microsoft’s website, and click on Upgrade Now.
Microsoft doesn’t actually ask for evidence that you are a user of assistive technologies, so they’ve basically left this wide open.
We’ve also covered other ways to legally and officially get a free Windows 10 upgrade in our earlier article linked below:

And if you’re still not happy with Windows 10, there are several ways to roll back to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, which we’ve outlined in this article.
