Apple’s products are never too far away from the rumor mill, and the latest is the Apple will be launching three variants of a new iPad Pro 2 next year, which includes a 7.9-inch iPad Mini Pro. According to Macotakara.jp, the other two options will be 12.9 inches and 10.1 inches, mirroring the current iPad Pro variants.
iPad Pro 2 Variants – Rumored Features
The site gives even more details, revealing that the new generation – iPad Pro 2 – will have a 12 MP iSight camera, True Tone flash and True Tone display. Though people are questioning the legitimacy of the rumor, top Apple analyst from KGI, Ming-Chi Kuo, did mention about two months ago that there would be three new variants of the latest iPad Pro 2. However, his prediction was that the middle variant would actually sport a 10.5-inch screen, not the 10.1-inch one that the more recent rumor tells of.
In addition, both reports talk about the dual speakers being replaced by quad speakers. The recent one also notes that the iPad Mini Pro will come with the Smart Connector and, although it doesn’t explicitly say this, the assumption by 9to5Mac is that the 10.1-inch variant will also have the Smart Connector.
As for the 3.5mm headphone jack, Macotakara says that unlike the iPhone 7, all three of the new iPad Pro models will still feature the analog jack output.
iPad Pro 2 Release Date Rumor
All signs point to a 2017 release for iPad Pro 2, and the most recent date seems to be around Spring of 2017.
So far, there’s been no news about any changes in camera configurations. We may not see the dual camera as it appears on the iPhone 7 Plus, but there’s always the possibility that Apple will include it for the larger devices. There’s also no word on whether the physical home button will be replaced with Taptic Engine virtual home button as seen on iPhone 7.
