Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Production May Stop, Carriers Halt Sales

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

After a slew of safety-related incidents with the replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones, the company may stop production of the smartphone. Several U.S. carriers like Verizon and AT&T have already stopped selling these phones because of the risks of battery overheating, fires and explosions.

When the Note 7 was launched in August this year, it was supposed to revolutionize smartphones and was considered by many to be one of the best Android smartphones ever made. Unfortunately, right after the launch, reports started trickling in about overheating issues. By the time iPhone 7 was launched on September 7, there were more than a dozen incidents reported.

Samsung quickly reacted to the incidents and announced a global recall of the Note 7, and shortly after that, regulatory authorities in the United States made it official. The company started giving out replacements around the 20th of September, but it seems many of these have the same problem as the first version of Note 7.

It’s clear that nobody wants to touch the smartphone model now, and Samsung has accepted this fact and put a stop on production for Note 7.

So, now, everything depends on how quickly Samsung is able to bring out its next big premium smartphone, the Galaxy S8 – successor to the hugely popular S7. There are also rumors going around about a foldable Galaxy X that might come out sometime next year.
