If you’re a Snapchatter, this is your day! Not only has Donald Trump won the 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections, but more importantly, SnapChat has a new version (9.43) that brings augmented reality to you via the World Lenses feature.
Well, okay, Trump being the new president-elect might be the bigger news, but World Lenses is still a very cool feature. Right now it’s limited to a few options – called lenses – but what it essentially does is add AR effects to photos you take on your mobile.
You can then share it with your friends, but they’ll have to update to the new SnapChat version to be able to view them the way they’re meant to be seen.
There’s a “Go Vote” lens that showers confetti from a foghorn when you hold your finger down on the screen, a rainbow lens, a snow lens and a few others. More will be coming soon.
Another new feature on SnapChat 9.43 is the ability to share a snap – even if it’s not your own – by just holding down your finger on it. The recipient gets it as a message view so they can easily reply to it.
Yet another subtle new change is the ability to go back to the previous page. This is especially useful for iOS users on iPhone and iPad. All you need to do is tap the left side of your screen and voila!
Admittedly, if you’re not a big fan of SnapChat, you’re not going to be super-excited about these changes, but you’ll be surprised to know that there there is a fiercely loyal group of users on this social app who won’t use anything else if you paid them a million bucks. This article is dedicated to those hardcore, die-hard Snapchatters all around the world.
