Did you know that you could get a taste of Android 7.1.1 Nougat on your old Samsung S4 smartphone (LTE) using custom ROM updates?
What is a Custom ROM?
The ROM, or Read-only Memory, of a phone is essentially the stock version of the operating system that runs a smartphone. A custom ROM is a standalone version of that operating system, and can be installed on compatible devices that don’t normally come with that OS version.
The Android custom ROM in question is for Samsung Galaxy S4 (LTE) that was launched in 2013. Using the custom crDroid Android ROM or the Resurrection Remix custom ROM, you can install Android 7.1.1 Nougat onto the LTE variant of the Galaxy S4.
But before you go and download the required files, be warned that installing an Android ROM on any device could potentially damage the device. That’s why you need to be a developer or an expert before attempting this. If you have an active warranty on any such device, it will immediately be null and void.
You also need at least 80% battery power remaining in the device to install the update. You should also carefully go through the entire installation guide and other resource materials before attempting this.
Assuming you haven’t been scared off by the above warnings, you may proceed to download either ROM update from the links provided below:

Again, DO NOT attempt to install these custom ROMs if you are NOT an expert or a developer.
