Samsung Refreshes Notebook 9 Line with 2 New Models – Lighter and Thinner

The Samsung Notebook 9 line has gotten another refresh ahead of CES 2017. At the beginning of the year Samsung expanded the award-winning Notebook 9 range of laptop PCs with a 13.3-inch version and a 15-inch version. The laptops continue to do well, but next year they’re going to undergo a dimension and weight change.

The 13.3 inch Notebook 9 coming out next year will weigh all of 1.8 lbs. It’s larger sibling weighs 2.17 lbs. Both are getting an added layer of security, better connectivity options and premium displays.

The Notebook 9 13.3-inch claims to be the lightest notebook on the market, and both models have near edge-to-edge displays that can fold back 180 degrees.

Under the hood is Intel’s Kaby Lake 7th generation i5/i7 processors with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB internal memory.

The notebooks also feature better connectivity with PC Message and PC Gallery. On the hardware connectivity side, you’ll find a USB-C port that is also used to charge the laptop quickly. Faster charging means a full 7-hour charge in about 80 minutes and up to 2.1 hours of battery charge with a quick 20 minute charge.

Enhanced security comes in the form of Windows Hello that lets you sign in without entering a password. And a fingerprint sensor adds yet another layer of security to this notebook preloaded with Windows 10 Home.

The Full HD Samsung RealView Display comes with a high brightness adjustment, Outdoor Mode for use in sunlight and a wider viewing angle.

Overall, it looks like Samsung has put the older Notebook 9 through some workouts to make it more fit, look a little sleeker and weigh a whole lot less. It’s going to be a little more capable that its predecessors, but the fact that this is a popular line of notebooks means they naturally want to keep it going as long as the market will have it.

Pricing and availability haven’t been announced yet, which they will probably do at CES 2017 when they do a formal launch.
