Donald Trump Gets Ex-President Obama’s Used ‘Cadillac One’, New Beast Not Ready

Cadillac One

As Donald Trump takes centerstage as the most powerful man in the world, he will have to go about his duties in a used car – the Cadillac One previously used by ex-President Barrack Obama.

Cadillac One is not something you’d call a car, to be honest. It’s built on the chassis of the Chevrolet Kodiak truck, also known as TopKick. General Motors has held the contract for building presidential limousines for the past three decades, and the last one they built was Obama’s “The Beast”, which they delivered in 2009 – the same year they exited the medium-duty truck market.

The New Beast, which Trump will use once it’s ready, is reported to cost a whopping $1.5 million and weigh in at a hefty 4.5 tons. But that’s not all.

Trump’s Cadillac One has tons of other features, like a tear gas cannon in front, a shotgun and possibly other “classified” weaponry as well. The shell is made from reinforced steel that’s 20 centimeters thick. It’s plated with military-grade armor, which makes the doors so heavy that Trump won’t be able to open it from the inside. Of course, not that he’ll ever have to.

The vehicle is bullet-proof, bomb-proof and even chemical and biological attack-proof.

But the real technology is on the inside. Unfortunately, most of that is, again, “classified”, but we do know that the driver has access to an electronic suspension system where he can adjust the riding height of the car when needed.

As for digital connectivity, Trump will have everything he needs inside Cadillac One. It might not be as comprehensive as the “mobile Oval Office” that is Air Force One, but you can bet that if he’s ever stuck inside the vehicle, he’ll be able to get in touch with anyone he wants over a secure line.

The New Beast has a ‘must-deliver-by’ date of March 30, 2017, so it could be a while before we get to see it in action. However, this photo might be the actual vehicle being tested.
