WatchOS 3.2 to Bring Enhanced Siri Capability, iOS Finally Getting Theater Mode

watchOS 3.2 beta

WatchOS 3.2 is still in developer preview mode as of now, but it has some exciting new additions, chiefly Siri’s ability to “talk” to third-party applications. The much-awaited Theater Mode could also come to iOS soon, though it was missing from iOS 10.3 Beta 1.

With watchOS 3.2, users will be able to get Siri to do tasks through apps other than native iOS stock apps. Siri will be able to communicate with a number of apps that currently don’t support voice commands.

It’s a step up from the old Siri for sure, but we’re not sure how wide the functionality is at this point. Hailing a cab or ordering a pizza come to mind, but we’ll need more feedback from developers before we can offer a full list of compatible apps for Siri.

The other feature is Theater Mode that is soon coming to iOS as well. Essentially, it dims and silences your Apple Watch or iPhone when you turn it on. On Apple Watch you can override it by tapping the screen or pressing the digital crown.

The public release of iOS 10.3 is still a few weeks away, since Apple has only pushed the first developer beta very recently. WatchOS 3.2 hasn’t been let out of its dev preview cage yet either, so it remains to be seen when these two operating system versions will be released to the wild.
