Android Pay Mobile Wallet Coming to Android Wear 2.0 Devices via Google Play Store

android pay mobile wallet will be on android wear 2.0 launching early Feb 2017

If you thought waving your phone at the cashier to pay for your purchase is cool, then how about paying with your next smart watch? That’s what Google is planning to launch, from the screenshots we’ve seen on Google’s Play Store for Android Pay.

The screenshots show Android Pay transactions on smartphones as well as smart watches. However, since Android Pay requires an NFC (near field communication) chip to be enabled, there aren’t any smart watches on the market that will currently support this.

That might change, with Google and LG partnering to release two Android Wear 2.0 devices very soon: the LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport. In fact, Android Wear 2.0 itself should be released today (February 8) to the public, according to information from famous leaker Evan Blass, who originally reported a launch date of Feb 9 and then move it forward by a day.

Nevertheless, we’ll still have to wait for those devices from LG to be able to use Android Pay with Android Wear 2.0, but since the OS itself is launching today, it won’t be long before we see these two smart watches from LG and Google appear on store shelves.

We’ll keep you posted.
