According to a Reuters report, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Tuesday that Tesla could enter the Indian market sometime this summer.

Hi tweet was in response to a question regarding whether the company had any plans to launch its EV line up in India, to which he said “Hoping for summer this year.”

No other details were provided.

Musk had earlier expressed his interest in the Indian market, and even opened up Model 3 reservations to the country. In fact, he even came out saying that the car would come with a pan-India supercharger network. But so far, he’s against the idea of setting up a Tesla battery plant in the country.

India has an auto market currently worth $74 billion, and is expected to hit $300 billion in the next ten years. As early as the end of the current fiscal, however, India could become the world’s third largest automobile market.

Though no move has been made by the Government of India to provide incentives for cleaner fuel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s has already reiterated his goal of at least 175 Gigawatts of power from clean energy initiatives by 2022.

More information will be forthcoming as Tesla’s plans are finalized.
