Amazon Adds Two New Smartphones to Prime Exclusive Phones Offering

Amazon Prime Phones get two new models from Alcatel and Motorola

Amazon has added Alcatel A30 and Moto G5 Plus to its growing list of “Prime Exclusive Phones”. Amazon started selling unlocked, ad-subsidized smartphones exclusively for Prime members since last year, and the initiative has now grown to five models.

Unlocked phones at a discounted price is not a bad deal, even if you have to put up with native advertising on your locked screen. Besides, you’re free to choose your own carrier and plan.

Amazon launched the Prime Exclusive Phones offer with Motorola and BLU, enticing customers with significant discounts on full-feature Android smartphones. The subsidizing of the discounts with personalized ads, as well as deals and offers from Amazon, was a good move.

For the user, it’s a small price to pay for an unlocked handset from a reputed brand. The ads and offers themselves are fairly non-intrusive, allowing notifications to be seen like you would on any other phone. It’s a great way to utilize unused space.

The two new phones added to the lineup are fairly loaded for the price point they’re being offered at.

The Alcatel A30 comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and preloaded with most of Google’s apps, such as Gmail, Maps YouTube and so on. The 5-inch screen features a 720p display, 8MP rear and 5MP selfie camera, Snapdragon processor and support for 4G LTE. Decent specs for a mid-range smartphone, but made even more attractive by the discounted price and the fact that it’s unlocked.

The Moto G5 Plus is a little more premium, with a 5.2-inch 1080p Full HD display, Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, 12MP rear and 5MP wide-angle selfie camera, and comes in 2 variants – 2GB RAM 32GB internal storage, and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Since the phones are for Prime members only, it allows Amazon to tailor deals and recommendations for users. Amazon was desperate to get in on the smartphone game, but their plans didn’t see any success. Now, they’re after the next best thing, which is better in a way because it offers a unique way to stay close to their Prime members.
