Team Pangu is nearly ready to release their iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak. In fact, they might already have a stable JB tool in hand, and are merely waiting for Apple to release iOS 10.3.2 to public users. That’s what they’ve indicated on Weibo, the Chinese social media platform they typically use for announcements. But if all you need is some tweaked apps on your iOS 10.3 iPhone or iPad, then sideloading IPA files is a lot easier.
Sideloading is a process where data is moved across devices, rather than being uploaded to or downloaded from the Internet. In this case, you’d download the IPA file for Kodi 18 Alpha Build from the Internet to your Mac or PC, and then sideload it to your iOS 10.3 device using Cydia Impactor, a very cool tool created by jailbreak legend and entrepreneur Jay Freeman, aka @saurik.
The Alpha Build is the first preview of Kodi 18 Leia. You won’t see all of the new features planned for the final release, but it’s a great way to see what’s going on in the early days of development much, much ahead of everyone else. If you have any trouble getting it to work, you can check out our article on how to sideload the current Kodi 17.1 Krypton to your iOS 10.3 device.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Preparing to Sideload Kodi 18 Leia Alpha Build on iOS 10.3 iPhone – No Jailbreak Required
First, you’ll need to download a copy of the Kodi 18 Leia Alpha Build IPA file, which you can store on your PC or Mac until you need it. You can download it here (opens in a new tab.)
Next, you will need the Cydia Impactor, so download the right version for your system. You can view the download options here.
Finally, you will need the latest version of iTunes, and you can get iTunes v12.6 here from Apple.
Now that the basic preparation is done, you can start the sideloading process.
How to Sideload Kodi 18 Leia Alpha Build to your iOS 10.3 iPhone
Before you start, remember to do the following steps one at a time. Don’t rush, and if there are any issues, DO NOT PROCEED. It’s your device and your decision to sideload this software, so please keep that in mind. If there’s any doubt at all, don’t do it.
The first thing to do is connect your iOS 10.3 iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.
Second, find the Cydia Impactor file that you downloaded earlier and run it.
Third, after connecting your device and running Cydia Impactor, look for a dropdown menu that contains the name of your device. Select it.
Fourth, remember that IPA file for Kodi 18 Leia Alpha Build that you downloaded just now? Drag that and drop it into the Cydia Impactor interface.
The Fifth one is an important step. You will need an Apple ID to proceed. At this point you have two choices. The free ID can be obtained from id.apple.com, where you need to look for an App-Specific Password. If you already have a paid ID you can use that to avoid resigning the app’s certificate every seven days.
Sixth, after you enter the paid or free ID, Cydia will start sideloading Kodi 18 Leia to your iOS 10.3 iPhone. Leave it for a few minutes, until the process is complete.
Seventh, DO NOT LAUNCH Kodi from the Home Screen even though you’ll see it there. Instead, go to Settings –> General –> Profiles. and look for the Kodi profile.
Eighth, tap on the profile and then Trust the Certificate.
Ninth, enjoy the Kodi experience whenever you want it. Have fun playing around with it and see what you can do.
Make sure you DO NOT install any third-party addons until you get comfortable with using Kodi. For addon choices, you can review this article here.
