Tesla’s Used Car Program: Model S EVs for Record Low Prices, and Moving Fast

Tesla Model S P85 Used Inventory

Tesla has changed a lot of things about its used car program for Model S and Model X. For one, it has dropped the rather gimmicky “certified pre-owned cars” (CPO) that everyone else uses. It’s simply called Used Inventory on the site.

The company has also enhanced the warranty offering, and it is now “a two-year, 100,000 miles maximum odometer pre-owned limited warranty with 24-hour roadside assistance.”

When Tesla first changed the warranty terms, there were several listings for cars under $40,000. However, if you look at it now, you won’t see any. That means they’re moving really fast.

In less than a week, several models like the Model S 60 that were available for as little as $32,500 have all been sold, and the listings removed. In fact, some commenters said that the listings for under $40,000 were all gone just two hours after Electrek reported it.

However, we’re hoping that Tesla will add more cars in that price range, but for now there are several options at between $40,000 and $45,000. You’ll even find a Model S P85 that’s only done 35,548 miles for a very reasonable $44,500. Of course, you’ll have to bear the additional expenses such as transportation, but it’s still a great deal.

You may find cheaper used Tesla Model S EVs outside of Tesla’s site, but obviously you won’t have the additional warranty covering them.

You can’t customize Tesla Model S cars that you buy used through Tesla’s site, but there’s enough of a choice that you’re likely to find something that’s right up your alley.
