How to Downgrade from a Buggy iOS 11 Beta to a More Stable iOS 10.3.3 Beta

If you’re on the Apple Beta Software Program, you’re likely to have iOS 11 beta installed on at least one of your devices. Finding it too buggy for your taste? No problem, you can downgrade to the sixth beta of iOS 10.3.3, which is far more stable since it’s very close to a public release.

How to Downgrade from iOS 11 Beta to iOS 10.3.3 Beta

First, go to the Apple Beta Software Program page and head to the image restore page from there. Click here now to go there on a Mac or PC and choose iOS 10.3.3 – that’s the IPSW file you want.

Second, make sure you have the most current iTunes version. Connect your iPhone or iPad running iOS 11 to your PC or Mac and put it in recovery mode. On iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices, that would be the sleep/wake and volume-down buttons pressed simultaneously and held for a few seconds until it enters recovery mode (after the Apple logo display goes away.)

Fourth, you should now see an alert from iTunes saying there’s a problem with your device and would you like to restore an older iOS version.

At this point, do an Option-click (Mac) or Shift-click (PC) on the Restore button, select the IPSW (image) file that you downloaded earlier and hit Restore again. The device will subsequently be restored to iOS 10.3.3.

Once restored and rebooted, you’ll be given the choice to set it up as a new device or do a backup from iCloud. Note that none of the backups that you may have made after moving to iOS 11 beta won’t be there, so you need to select the most recent backup done when you were still on iOS 10.

It’s easy as pie, and a lot safer for your device if you’re not really a developer or don’t have any working knowledge of iOS.
