Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID for Windows Hello Authentication

Microsoft Modern Keyboard and Microsoft Modern Mouse

Microsoft has officially released the long-awaited Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID that extends Windows Hello security as a PC peripheral. Along with the new keyboard, the company has also released the Microsoft Modern Mouse.

Windows Hello on Windows 10 PCs is a fairly robust biometric security system that uses a variety of methods to authenticate the user. With the Modern Keyboard, you can now turn any Windows 10 PC into a secure device protected by Windows Hello.

The fingerprint reader on the new keyboard has been designed with subtlety in mind and has been built into a normal-looking key. You won’t know it’s there unless you know it’s there, so to speak.

The Microsoft Modern Keyboard comes with Bluetooth 4.0 and hardwire connection so you can either plug in or go wireless. the “enterprise-grade secure fingerprint reader” is built into one of the low-profile keys that achieve an impressive 2mm key travel for greater accuracy and speed.

The keyboard comes with a rechargeable battery that will last up to 4 months on a single charge. The mouse is pretty efficient as well, lasting for up to 12 months with the 2 AAA alkaline batteries that are included in the purchase.

For this type of functionality, the price isn’t as steep as you’d expect. The Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID retails for $129.99, while the Microsoft Modern Mouse costs $49.99. Both are available online from Microsoft at the links provided.
