A significant number of Nokia 5 users are currently facing difficulty accessing the Dolby Equalizer settings in a few music apps. HMD Global has acknowledged the problems raised by Nokia 5 users, and has promised to fix the bug.
The problem seems to be occurring while accessing the Dolby Equalizer settings in a few music apps. When the user tries to access the Equalizer, a white screen appears with no further options possible.
An HMD representative says the team is working on the issue, and it will be fixed in the next couple of weeks or sooner, but this statement seems to be a little vague without the timeline.
Meanwhile, users can continue to use the Dolby Surround on their Nokia 5 through third party apps in the Google Play Store. This could be a temporary solution until HMD fixes the bug and release the patch.
This seems to be a minor bug which HMD will fix quickly, and it’s no reason for anyone to not buy a Nokia 5.
The bug appears to be exclusive to Nokia 5; other models’ users haven’t reported anything similar. In July, there was a bug in Nokia 3 also related to sound, which the team fixed the same month. The complaint was that the user was not able to control the volume. Even if the option to reduce the volume was chosen; it continued to ring loudly. It is now fixed and seems to be working fine with the new software release.
Nokia 5 falls into the mid-range phone category and is equipped with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display that has a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels. Nokia 5 is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and comes with 2GB of RAM.
HMD is all gearing up to release the next phone in the series – Nokia 8 – on August 16. It will be available alongside other flagship devices for 2017, such as iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, iPhone 8, the Galaxy Note 8 and the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
