Samsung could be coming up with a new device which was spotted on a listing in the FCC website. Probing into the details, it has been identified as Samsung Gear Sport. The device has a model number: SM-R600.

Based on the image and the label details, the device looks like a smartwatch or fitness band, and could be the one that’s been talked about since May this year. The device might also come with Bluetooth. The diagram is the underside of the smartwatch, with the FCC ID and ‘Made in Vietnam’ mentioned in the lower semicircular area of the label. The top portion of the back panel says Samsung Gear Sport; the wearable device is expected to run on the Tizen open source operating system.

Samsung hasn’t revealed any information on the device or the release date. The speculation is that the device might be unveiled during the much-anticipated launch event of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 on August 23 in New York.

The prediction is that the device might be a response to Apple Watch series 2 Nike Edition, which is focused on sports. The Apple Watch will be available from October 28 in India.  The Nike Edition Watch has inbuilt GPS, is water resistant up to 50 meters and is made of fluoroelastomer for better resistance and superior performance. It pairs with iPhone 5 and later models. The device will be made available with various Apple authorized sellers and Nike outlets.

To recall, Samsung released Gear 3 last year during IFA 2016, which was around the same time. The Gear 3 sports a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.  The Gear 3 was unveiled in two variants – Frontier and Classic – and had inbuilt GPS and 4G LTE support. Both watches are IP68 water and dust resistant certified.

Samsung hasn’t leaked any information so far about Gear Sport, so everything we know so far is from the listing on the FCC website. We hope to hear more closer to the launch.
