No Reuters, North Korea nuclear missile will not reach the U.S. this year!

“North Korea may have ICBM capable of reaching US this year, says South Korea”

I did a double take when I read that, because the Reuters report published on CNBC (unintentionally, I’ll grant) today indicates that the North Korean missile could reach the U.S. this year!

Not true, apparently.

That either points to a serious problem with the English language, or a very lazy schedule for a missile that would be traveling at about 7 kilometers per second.

What they meant to say was that an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile that can reach mainland United States could be developed by North Korea as early as the end of the year.

Whew!

The information came from South Korea’s intelligence agency, which says that North Korea’s Punggye-ri complex seems ready for another detonation “at any time.” But it also mentioned that there was no sign of a nuclear test any time soon.

At least we know it’s going to be a Merry Christmas in the United States this year. No missiles.
