GOP Tax Reform Bill: Trump’s tweet rebuffed by Flake’s take

Notwithstanding the publicly aired feudal thrusts and parries between President Trump and Senator Jeff Flake, the president’s prediction of Flake being a “NO” on the tax reform bill is apparently untrue.

Sen. Flake’s office responded with this, by email:

”Senator Flake is still reviewing the tax reform bill on its merits. How he votes on it will have nothing to do with the president.”

And it shouldn’t, but Trump seems to have thought that it might.

With only 52 Senate seats in hand, the GOP knows that every single vote from within its party matters as far as the tax reform bill is concerned.

There are already several opposing views among the party’s Senate members, and it’s also going to take some tough negotiating and more than a few compromises to get the bill through Congress and to the president’s desk before Christmas 2017, which economists are already saying is unlikely to happen.
