Reports started flowing from around midday on Black Friday that Macy’s was having problems with processing credit cards and gift cards.
Users from all over took to Twitter to vent their frustrations about having to stand in long lines, only to find out that their Macy’s cards and credit cards were either very slow to process or wouldn’t process at all.
After several hours, Macy’s issued a statement that the problem was fixed as of Friday evening.
“We have fully resolved today’s system issues. We highly value our customers and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience today’s system slowdown may have caused during their shopping experience.”
The retailer attributes the problem to a “capacity-related issue.”
There’s no word yet on potential losses across Macy’s outlets arising from not being able to process credit cards for several hours across multiple stores.
