Terror bombing and shooting attack on Egypt mosque-goers kills hundreds

An attack on the Sufi al-Rawdah mosque in North Sinai on Friday left at least 235 people dead and 109 more injured.

Shortly after the bombing and shooting incident that put the region into a state of shock, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi vowed to deliver a “brute force” response.

Following the president’s reaction, the Egypt air force launched air strikes in the region, and claim to have destroyed the terrorists’ vehicles, killing a number of terrorists behind the attack.

The Friday attack was executed during prayer hours, and is believed to be the deadliest terror attack on the nation’s soil so far.

The mosque is thought to be the birthplace of Sheikh Eid al-Jariri, considered in the Sinai Peninsula region as the founder of Sufism.
