New Jersey, Alabama, Idaho, Michigan, now Colorado hears the “bama boom”

What is the “Bama Boom”? Apparently, it’s a mysterious and really loud boom that people are hearing all across the country with no reasonable explanation in sight as to the cause of these loud sounds.

Various theories have been proposed and debunked around the Bama Boom sounds. They’re not the musings of experts, but rather the locals who heard the sounds, and range from alien invasion to meteor shower to deep earthquake.

The experts, however, have ruled out possibilities of meteors from the recent Leonid meteor shower exceeding the speed of sound. Another hypothesis is that the sound emanated from aircraft breaking the sound barrier.

NASA thinks it could be a different meteor, a larger one called a bolide, that explodes in the atmosphere. They’ve also proposed supersonic aircraft as being the reason for the sounds.

An earthquake event has been ruled out by the U.S. Geological Survey.

In the Colorado incident, both the Federal Aviation Administration and the Buckley Air Force Base have confirmed that they were not carrying out any operation that could have caused the boom.

For now, the Bama Boom sounds remain an unsolved mystery. Now there’s some fodder for conspiracy theorists!
