3 Floridans charged with animal cruelty dragged a live shark behind their boat

Three Florida men have been arrested, and each charged with two felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty and a misdemeanor count for using an illegal method of taking a shark.

A video that went viral in July showed the shark being dragged behind a boat. The men have been taken into custody in connection with that video, which went viral after a local Miami fisherman denounced it on Instagram, where the video was uploaded.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission press release names 21-year-old Michael Wenzel and 23-year-old Spencer Heintz of Palmetto, along with 28-year-old Robert Lee Benac of Bradenton as the men arrested for the crimes.
