Google discounting Pixel 2 by $50 and Pixel 2 XL by $75, time to buy?

Google has starting discounting the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones ahead of Christmas with discounts of $50 and $75 depending on the variant you pick.

The Google Store is currently offering the 64 GB Pixel 2 and 128 GB Pixel 2 for $50 off each at $599 and $699, respectively. The Pixel 2 XL 64 GB is $774 and the 128 GB variant is $874, discounts of $75 each.

Is this a good time to pick up a new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL? That depends.

The offer on the phones is available until December 31, 2017, so there’s only a couple of weeks left to decide.

On the one hand that kind of discount is not likely to come back soon. It’s a new model, and Google is merely trying to improve sales using the Christmas season as an excuse.

In addition, you can still make use of the trade-in deal and save up to $435, and since Google recently released the Star Wars and Stranger Things AR stickers, fans of those franchise might see the deal being that much sweeter.

On the flip side, there have been several issues with the Pixel 2 XL, including burn-in, unresponsive display edges and flashing screens. The latest problem – slow fingerprint scanner – came with the Android 8.1 Oreo update. Google says a fix is one the way, but it’s just one of many problems the Pixel 2 XL has been having.

You can still go for the $50 discount on the Pixel 2. No major issues have been reported with that model, and it’s a great phone with a fantastic camera.

To get the discount, head over to the Google Store. Book yours now if you want it in time for Christmas.
