Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens with a $220M take by Sunday, $450M globally

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened with a bang over the weekend, raking in a whopping $220 million by Sunday according to studio estimates.

Overseas, the second installment of the third Star Wars trilogy opened equally successfully, raking in $230 million according to Disney.

That takes total ticket sales up to nearly half a billion dollars globally.

First place is still held by The Force Awakens, which took in $248.8 million in its first weekend in the United States and has grossed $2.1 billion in global ticket sales since its release.
