Apple reportedly scales back production of 2018 OLED iPhone models

Apple iPhone ranks among the best flagship phones on the market. Apple’s mighty iPhone models include premium design, innovative features, and excellent camera performance. Last year, the company announced new iPhone models, including iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

Apple iPhone X is a special iPhone model that celebrates its 10th birthday. With iPhone X, Apple has some daring changes, ranging from curved OLED display, Face ID, and new camera features. Apple iPhone X was one of the best-selling smartphones in the first quarter of the year. The Cupertino company shipped more than 16 million units in Q1/2018, beating out the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus on the market.

Apple is expected to launch new iPhone models at its annual September event. Rumors have been circulating about the next generation Apple iPhone for months. Sources say that Apple will announce three iPhone models this year, including an iPhone X Plus to replace the current iPhone X.

Sources say that the iPhone X Plus will feature OLED displays, while two standard devices will continue to stick with LCD displays. According to recent reports, Apple has decided to scale back production of 2018 OLED iPhone models. Instead, the company is shifting its focus to LCD iPhone models. It remains unclear why Apple is producing more LCD panels.

Tech experts say that Apple wants to target mid-range segment this year. This adds up to what we heard in previous rumors that Apple would launch a 6.1 inch iPhone model. The 6.1-inch device is rumored to belong to mid-range segment. This means the device will lack some premium features.

Sources say that the 6.1 inch iPhone model will sport LCD display panel and won’t come with Face ID at launch. Apple’s move aims to achieve a lower price tag this year. Besides, Apple is believed to unveil the second generation iPhone SE this year. Back in 2016, Apple announced the original iPhone SE with the iPhone 5s’s design and crazy specs. The iPhone SE was one of the hottest items in emerging markets like India and Brazil.

Besides, rumors say that all iPhone models this year will come with wireless charging and dual-camera setup. Let’s wait and see.
