Apple releases the developer beta 9 of watchOS 5

Apple Watch is among the best smartwatches on the market. Apple Watch 3 with LTE now dominates the smartwatch market, with more than 4 million units shipped during the first quarter of the year. Tech experts claim Apple Watch model with LTE connectivity continues to grab the top spot later this year.

Apple Watch is a great success in the wearable market. And, the reason for its success lies in its optimized watchOS. In reality, Apple has been improving its smartwatch operating system since the day one to take on Wear OS. One of the best things when it comes to watchOS lies in the ability to work with all Apple devices.

The current Apple Watch 3 marks Apple’s huge focus on fitness and health features. The move aims to put Apple in contention with other competitors out there. Apple is expected to announce the fourth generation Apple Watch at its September event this year.

The upcoming Apple Watch will run watchOS 5 at launch. watchOS 5 is the latest version of Apple’s wearable operating system that was debuted back at this year’s WWDC event. Basically, watchOS 5 is not a significant upgrade over its predecessors, but it comes with a lot of new things like new watch faces, new workout features, or Walkie Talkie.

watchOS 5 has been through several beta versions since the launch day. Apple’s beta versions aim to collect user feedback ahead of the final build which is set for this fall. According to early testers, watchOS 5 offers a much-improved performance and fast connection with other devices.

Apple has just released the ninth developer beta of its watchOS 5. The new beta came a few days after the launch of the beta 8. According to Apple, the developer beta 9 will hit all the compatible Apple’s smartwatches including Series 1, Series 2 and Series 3. This means that the update will not work with the first-gen Apple Watch.

Earlier this year, Apple claimed that the company officially ended support for the first-gen Apple Watch. For some background, the first gen Apple Watch was debuted back in 2015 and quickly became the best-selling wearable device of the year. Specifically, the Cupertino company shipped more than 4 million Apple Watch units during the second quarter of the year.

The developer beta 9 comes with a number of new features. One such feature lies in the ability to use your watch as a walkie-talkie. With the beta 9, you now can set a goal for your workouts and exercises. It seems that watchOS 5 continues to support users who frequently spend hours at the gym.

The developer beta 9 also comes with a new Siri watch face. Apple’s virtual helper now can learn your daily routines or helps you catch up with the latest news about your favorite teams. Besides, you can ask Siri to open Apple Maps for quick navigation.

However, the beta is only aimed at developers for testing purposes. Developers can test their apps ahead of the final build of watchOS 5. If you have a developer account, then you can download the update by opening Settings > Software Update.
