WatchOS 5 has been available for 4 months, so make sure your device is up-to-date.

Steps to add a passcode to your Apple Watch

Step one: First off, open the Settings app on your Apple Watch, and then tap Passcode from the list

Step two: Next up, tap Turn on Passcode to enable the feature on your Watch

Step three: Now just simply enter the four-digit passcode you wish to use to lock and unlock your smartwatch

Step four: Once you are done, from now on, you need to enter the passcode to unlock your smartwatch.

Alternatively, you can add a passcode to your Watch using the Watch app on your iPhone. To do this, open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap My Watch tab and turn on Passcode on your Watch. Besides, we recommend you use a six-digit passcode. To enable it, select My Watch tab, then select Passcode and turn off the switch for Simple Passcode.

If you want to unlock your Watch using your iPhone, open the Watch app on your iOS device, then select Passcode and turn on the switch for Unlock with iPhone. After that, launch the Settings app on your Watch, then tap on Passcode and turn on the switch.
