This week the skies above a politically tense part of the world, the Korean Peninsula, will see 230 military aircraft do aerial displays over 8 military bases belonging to South Korea and the United States.

This year’s Vigilant Ace, the annual air drills held by the US and South Korea in the peninsular region, will see 12,000 personnel come out in force – literally – and exhibit the firepower of the most advanced aerial weaponry in the world.

But how will North Korea’s leadership react to what they’ve already termed aggressive provocation by American forces that would be met with military retaliation?

Experts have said that North Korea’s nuclear capability is not yet advanced enough for the rogue nation under mercurial leader Kim Jong Un to mount a direct attack on the continental United States.

However, they add that the country’s nuclear program is advancing at an unexpectedly rapid pace.

The massive military exercise can only serve to further inflame already-raw political nerves in the region.

What will North Korea’s response be this time?

Meanwhile, here is some stunning imagery from the ongoing Vigilant Ace drills currently underway.
