New York City pipe bomb suspect injured and in custody, no other injuries reported

A small pipe bomb that went off in a subway passage near the Port Authority Bus Terminal left one person injured – the suspect. The male suspect has been taken into custody at this time.

One law enforcement source said the explosion was small. However, evacuation procedures were immediately implemented on the A, C and E trains, and emergency vehicles poured into Eighth Ave. as several blocks were cordoned off.

Mayor de Blasio and President Trump have been briefed about the situation.

According to preliminary information revealed by former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton, the suspect is supposedly from Bangladesh and in his early 20s. The man, said Bratton, “supposedly was setting the device off in the name of ISIS, so definitely a terrorist attack, definitely intended.”

The suspect was the only one injured by the pipe bomb explosion.
