OxygenOS 3.5.5 for OnePlus 2 Still on Marshmallow, Nougat Beta OOS4.0 Drops to OP3T

OnePlus 2 gets OxygenOS 3.5.5 on Marshmallow; OnePlus 3T gets Nougat beta OOS 4.0

While OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users can expect to get the full release of Android 7.0 Nougat as OxygenOS 4.0 in a few days, OnePlus 2 users have just got their Christmas gift.

Unfortunately, Santa still thinks OP2 loves Marshmallows and has given them the OxygenOS 3.5.5 based on Android 6.0.

OOS 3.5.5 brings some UI changes to the Clock app, and default apps for Calculator and Messages will now be the stock OnePlus apps. Users can switch back to Google’s apps, but they’ll have to get them from Google Play.

The phone, incidentally, will do a quasi-factory-reset after the update, and you might have to get a lot of the settings customized to your liking again. Some of these are the status bar battery indication, accent colors, ringtones and the device name.

One big feature on OxygenOS 3.5.5 is VoLTE functionality for certain carriers, while other features include new Alert Slider options, new Gaming and Battery Saving modes and App Lock.

The rest are general bug fixes and the December security fixes but, other than that, don’t expect anything major.

Meanwhile, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are getting ready for their big Nougat rollout. The beta testing is well underway and a few days ago OnePlus dropped the Nougat beta OxygenOS 4.0 to OP3T devices, which is the same as Beta 8 for OP3.

It appears to be stable enough, so that’s a good indication that we’re getting really close to a full release any time now. It could be just a matter of a few days at most.

Looks like a great end to 2016 for OnePlus users!
