Nokia China Leak Points to Snapdragon-835-powered Nokia Smartphone

The Nokia 6 seems to have been a small victory for Nokia in the Chinese market, but the real challenge lies in their ability to create a Nokia smartphone for the developed market that can compete with the likes of Apple, Samsung and Google devices.

A Nokia leak on Chinese social media site Weibo, where the company is actively answering queries, seems to indicate that a Snapdragon 835-powered smartphone is in the works.

The “Xiaolong” referred to in the post is the Chinese name for the Snapdragon family of mobile processors, and actually means “Little Dragon.” Incidentally, Li Xiaolong was the Chinese screen name of actor and legendary martial arts expert Bruce Lee!

So, we definitely know that the Nokia leak is referring to a Nokia smartphone with Snapdragon 835 under the hood. What we don’t know is when it’s actually coming out.

About a month ago, there was much speculation about the Nokia P, a premium smartphone that was being developed alongside two mid-range models and targeted at the U.S. and other developed markets. That phone was reported to have the Snapdragon 835, which means this new Nokia leak could actually be talking about the Nokia P.

The article above shows leaked photos of the Nokia P, but the company has not made anything official yet. The Nokia leak of today could be the first public acknowledgement that they’re working on a premium smartphone for the general market.
