If you’re not in the United States, you might be wondering who’s covering the Oscars this year and where you can watch it during the live broadcast. Here’s a quick guide to watching the 89th Academy Awards live tomorrow, on Saturday February 26, 2017 at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
The gala is being hosted this year by talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, and awards will be presented by high-profile actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Halle Berry. Sting, John Legend and Justin Timberlake will perform the tunes nominated for original songs.
In the U.S., ABC will be covering the extravaganza as usual, the way it’s been doing since 1976. Coverage will include red-carpet arrivals to begin with, followed by the ceremony itself shortly after. Viewers can either tune in to ABC at that time, or head to ABC.com to live-stream the event on their desktops and mobile devices.
Streaming device owners will also get access to live streaming in certain cities using Fire TV, Roku or DirecTV.
In Canada, CTV, the national network, will be covering the event right from 5 p.m. Eastern Time, starting with eTalk’s Ultimate Oscar Guide, followed at 6 p.m. by eTalk at the Oscars. eTalk will be the only Canadian entertainment news channel that will be broadcasting live from the venue in Los Angeles. The opening ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. ET, and the actual ceremony will begin broadcasting at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Down under, in Australia, Nine Network has exclusive rights to air the Oscar ceremony live. Time will be 12:30 p.m. local on Monday. Internet viewers can go to 9Now, the online service, to watch the live stream, and will also be able to see it on one of Nine Network’s digital channels at primetime that same night.
Viewers in India can watch the 89th Academy Awards live on Star Movies and Star Movies Select HD at 5:30 am on Monday, February 27, and a recorded telecast later that day at 8:30 p.m. Star India’s digital platform, Hotstar.com, will also carry live-streamed coverage.
In the UK and Ireland, Sky will feature the event on Sky Movies Oscars, starting at 1:30 am local time on Monday. In case you miss it, you’ll also be able to see the ceremony and highlights later that day on Sky Living.
In Germany, coverage will, as usual, be carried by Pro7, and the red-carpet arrivals begin at 12:30 am local time on Monday. At 2:30 am local time, live coverage of the ceremony begins.
In most countries, local entertainment channels may also carry live streamed content showing the stars arriving at the venue.
There are some great films being honored with Oscar nominations at the 89th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on February 26, 2017. If you can’t catch the live ceremony, you can at least view it at a more convenient time as a recorded event, as well as online at your convenience.
