Shooting rampage at Rancho Tehama Reserve leaves five dead

The Story:

At least 5 people have been killed (including the perpetrator) when a gunman went on a shooting rampage in the Rancho Tehama Reserve Tuesday, before his vehicle was rammed into by the police and he was fatally shot.

The Details:

The shooting incident lasted about 45 minutes through the quiet Rancho Tehama reserve about 120 miles from downtown Sacramento.

At one point he crashed through the gates of a local elementary school, spraying classrooms and walls with bullets.

In all, five people were confirmed dead and 10 others injured. The gunman was one of the five killed.

An altercation that morning between the man and his neighbors led to him killing two of them, a man and a woman.

That may have sparked off the shooting rampage, says Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston.

The shooter reportedly stole a white F-150 pickup truck to get around, and the police have now recorded seven crime scenes in the area.

No child was killed in the shooting rampage.
