A10 Fusion chip assumed on new iMac Pro, bringing always-on “Hey, Siri”

Information in the BridgeOS 2.0 software, as spotted by eagle-eye developers Johnathan Levin and Steve Troughton-Smith, shows that the new iMac Pro coming out soon could have the A10 Fusion chip as the ARM coprocessor.

This would make the new iMac Pro the first macOS system capable of always-on “Hey, Siri”, even when the system is shut down, apparently.

According to Troughton-Smith, using the A10 Fusion chip with macOS would allow Apple to “experiment with tighter control” over the desktop operating system without frustrating devs or users.

No official date has been provided by Apple for the iMac Pro release, except that it should arrive before the end of 2017. With only six weeks left before we ring in 2018, better keep your wallets handy.
