Last month, Tesla had applied for a new key fob design for the Model 3 electric car, just like the ones used for Model X and Model S. The FCC has now released images that confirm the existence of the new security hardware for access.
The two current access options for Model 3 are the NFC key card and the mobile app. Per the user manual:
“This Key fob is used for user that don’t want to use phone nor NFC card to unlock their car. It contains three bottoms that able to unlock the frunk, door and trunk.”
