Danes will have a field day of configuring their very own Tesla Model 3 slated for delivery some time next year. The company officially opened up the Design Studio for the Denmark market, albeit with a rude shock.
According to CleanTechnica contributor Jesper Berggreen, the Model 3 LR with Dual Motor is $70,785, or about kr 465,000, before savings.
In contrast, the Model 3 Performance including the EAP package in the United States is only $70,000 – see below:
Tesla’s strategy is to only offer the two higher-end Model 3 variants in Europe. The main reason for this is that it will skew sales towards higher-margin cars, and limit the demand until Tesla is ready with more cars to deliver to those markets.
It’s a good strategy, but one that has left at least one Dane choosing to wait for a cheaper variant. According to Berggreen, however, the salesperson at the Tesla showroom in Aarhus was “positive” about the number of orders already coming in since the official email notifications were sent to reservation holders. Berggreen had paid $1,500, or DKK10,000 to reserve his Model 3 back in April 2016.
