Apple HomePod accounting for %4 only of the smart speaker market

Back in 2017, Apple announced the HomePod, its first ever smart speaker following months of endless rumors and reports. The release of the HomePod put Apple in an intense competition with Amazon and Google on the market. Apple HomePod is a success on the market, with millions of units sold so far.

Like the Amazon Echo and Google Home, Apple HomePod allows users to control their home appliances and playback. Apple’s smart speaker now includes support for stereo pairing, which lets you connect two HomePod speakers together. This means that you can control your music across your home without leaving your room.

According to the latest reports, Apple’s smart speaker accounts for only 4 percent of the smart speaker market this year. This comes as a surprise as the HomePod has seen a steady growth since the launch day. Some reports claim that Apple is expecting to ship more than 100 million HomePod units by the end of this year.

Tech experts say that Apple has a lot of work to do to overthrow Amazon Echo and Google Home on the market. According to the latest data, the Amazon Echo now dominates the smart speaker market with more than 50 percent market share. Google Home is trying to close the gap, with a 30 percent market share.

Sources say that Apple’s HomePod has been available on the market for nearly 4 months only. So, we can expect to see more from Apple this year. In reality, the Cupertino company has been busy expanding the availability of the HomePod to more markets this year. Apple’s smart speaker is currently available in Australia, the UK, the US, Canada, Germany, and France. The HomePod is falling behind other rivals on the market due to its limited availability.

According to reports, Apple HomePod sales may hit more than $300 million by 2022. Apple has been trying to add new features and skills to its smart speaker to offer a better user experience. Apple is expected to launch a cheaper HomePod this year. The device will come with an affordable price tag, but still lacks some important features.
